Services

Investments

We feel our role is to understand your goals, needs and financial position. Together we can then provide you with advice to build a plan that will offer the potential to increase your wealth whilst minimising any potential investment risks and tax consequences. Our aim is to treat you fairly and offer you simple advice that will benefit you and your family, as well as being clear and impartial. We also offer guidance on Inheritance Tax Planning.

Once your plan is in place, we offer to hold an annual review meeting to monitor how things are progressing and ensure that any changes are agreed between us.

Because we believe that financial planning is about developing a long-term relationship, we will continually need to understand what you are looking to achieve and work closely together moving forwards. Our aim is to provide you with sound financial advice - not just at the start of the process, but for as long as you need us.

The types of investment areas that we provide independent financial advice on are, among others;

  • Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs)
  • Unit Trusts
  • Investment Trusts
  • Investment Bonds
  • Inheritance Tax Plans
  • Pension Planning

Please remember that the value of investments can go down as well as up.

Retirement Planning

We believe that providing for your retirement is a key area of financial planning requiring a long term and flexible approach. After establishing your retirement aims, we will work with you to develop the best strategy to meet your objectives.

Once your plan has been arranged, we offer an annual review to see how things are progressing and to monitor the investments in place in line with our investment service.

When you reach retirement we also offer a retirement options service where we will aim to find the most appropriate solution to provide the necessary income to maintain your standard of living.

Mortgage Services

Buying a home is, for most of us, our biggest financial commitment, and the house buying process can be a stressful one. Whether you are buying your first home, moving, raising funds or just looking for a better deal, we will work with you to find the most appropriate mortgage for your current needs and circumstances from the whole of the market.

We pride ourselves on providing prompt, friendly and efficient advice. We don't just advise on and arrange your mortgage application, we liaise with solicitors, estate agents and mortgage lenders to make the process as smooth and stress free as possible.

There will be a fee for mortgage advice. The precise amount will depend upon your circumstances, but we estimate it will typically be £250.

You may have to pay an early repayment charge to your existing lender if you remortgage.

Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Protecting yourself and your family

Until we are financially secure even the best financial plans for the future can be left in ruins by an unexpected turn of events. This is why we believe that protection is the cornerstone of good holistic financial planning. We provide clear and concise advice on the amount and type of protection best suited to your needs. Whether it's protecting your family or yourself in the event of death, ill health, need for private medical care or loss of income, our services are comprehensive.

We also provide a full review service to ensure your existing protection arrangements are still appropriate and that you are getting the best value for money.

Please note that insurance that is based on health is subject to underwriting and previous or existing medical conditions may affect cover.

About Us

Laurence Brown

Laurence Brown Dip PFS

As an adviser, with more than 30 years of experience in the industry, I have seen many changes in terms of the science behind investments and in the choice of what is now available.

I specialise in the areas of investment and retirement planning including inheritance tax, having advised hundreds of clients over the years. Each year I meet many clients to discuss how we might improve things, many of which I have worked with for some considerable time.

In the past I have featured on a few occasions on Radio Five Live for 'The Financial World Tonight' programme, as well as on Radio Four.

I advise a diverse group of clients whose occupations include amongst others, doctors, accountants, solicitors, professors, business owners and company directors. For many years now I have also co-presented regular seminars at St Christopher's Hospice in Crystal Palace, London, for terminally ill patients and their carers. I enjoy this very much as it is away from my normal day to day work and very rewarding.

Outside work I have two 'grown up' children, Hannah and Daniel, and in my spare time I enjoy watching Fulham Football Club with my son, walking, travelling and playing the odd game of golf.

I began my career in the financial services industry as an investment advisor at Royal London Insurance in 1996, before moving on to Barclays in 1998, where I gained a wealth of experience and knowledge of financial planning, as a senior advisor.

For more than 20 years, I have been an independent advisor specialising in all aspects of mortgage lending and protection advice, including personal, property and business protection.

With my friendly and approachable manner, I have successfully built up a loyal base of clients, who regularly recommend my services to their friends and family, many of whom have been with me for a number of years. I believe that good customer service for all my clients, is a very important part of the job that I do.

I have been married for more than 25 years and live in Surrey with my wife, three children and Red Setter. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, listening to music and reading.
